SD Mines Class Project 2019
The class gift at SDSM&T is a way for the students to give back to their school through donations to projects that the students choose. The student run group surveys the student body and they decide on a project that would be most beneficial to the students and what they want for future generations. This gift is provided by the student to next classes of students to enjoy. The class gift helps students to foster an “attitude of gratitude” by engaging students and their parents in our culture of giving back and making them aware of the generosity from which they are benefiting at Mines and the value of perpetuating this culture into their professional careers. The class gift has done several projects over the past years!
The class of 2014-2015 donated to and built a rock garden by the Classroom Building.
The class of 2016 built a retaining wall and bench at the top of M Hill to stop the erosion of the reunion plaques and to give hikers a place to rest.
The class of 2017 has constructed a grove of trees in the quad on campus along with a concrete pad for a picnic table for students to study on and hang out.
The class of 2018 has poured a concrete pad where an ADA accessible picnic table will be installed on April 25th.
If you help our graduating class with this gift to your soon to be alma mater, you will leave a legacy that will last for generations. Donating to this project will continue the graduating students' tradition of giving back with a real and impactful gift. Your name will also appear on a plaque as a donor to the class gift displayed on the wall of giving located int the Surbeck Center.
WHAT WILL I SUPPORT?
The 2019 class project is a swinging bench pergola which will be located across the street from Connolly Hall. This space would serve as a recreational space where students and faculty can have a short escape from campus. The class project committee is currently looking at several layouts and will announce the final design in the next few months. Not only will this be a nice location for regular use, it will also serve as a resting spot along a proposed multi-use trail.
Please join us in donating to this gift and creating an awesome place for current and future students at SDSM&T!
Thank you to those who have already donated!
